While individual sectors suffered modest to moderate gains, the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange recorded modest to moderate gains at the end of trading on Thursday. The TA composite index rose 1.02 percent to 981.15, while the TA 100 closed at 988.07, up 1.13 percent, including a 1.74 rise by the Maof 25 most-widely-invested issues to 1,093.37.
With the bank stocks jumping 2.23 percent to 964.11, the financial institutions finished the last day of the trading week at 899.91, up 1.54 percent, including a .58 percent increase by the insurance index to 1,059.14. The communications stocks closed at 780.41, up .95 percent and the Ma'ala organization's social concern index rose .08 percent to 831.44. Most of the technology stocks fell an average of 1.86 percent to 276.86, while the biomed index closed at 729.73, down .49 percent. The oil and gas stocks declined .79 percent to 1,182.58, while the real estate index finished the day at 267.43, down .23 percent.
