Elections for Jerusalem's Greater Baka Council


Elections are being held Tuesday for the Greater Baka Community Council. Baka, also known as Geulim is a neighborhood in southern Jerusalem. The council is comprised of residnets of the neighborhoods of Baka/Geuilm, Talpiot, Arnona, Abu Tor, and Mekor Chaim. Any resident of those areas are eligible to select two fellow residents to represent them on the council. Voting will take place from 8:00 AM - 10:00 PM in various schools and other public places in the area.

According to the council's web site, "The Greater Baka Community Council seeks to improve the quality of life and strengthen the Jewish identity of its residents through community programs. The younger population resides alongside seniors, new immigrants, alongside natives.
