France’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Gerard Araud, said on Monday that “the UN Security Council is morally responsible for what is happening in Syria.”
Araud’s comments came following the publication of a UN report which found that 5,000 people have been killed in the deadly crackdown on anti-regime protesters in Syria.
“France and other members in the Security Council deem the Council’s silence on this issue scandalous,” he said.
