Iran Warns Citizens: Beware Western 'Offers'

Iran's foreign ministry has issued a travel warning to Iranian citizens. The warning cautioned them not to fall into “traps” set by Western governments to entice them into giving up information or to turn them into “spies” for Western intelligence agencies. The Ministry said that the warning was necessary because of numerous instances in which it says that intelligence agencies offered Iranians money, residence permits, or even citizenship for acting against Iran.

“A number of Iranian nationals have walked straight into the traps laid by Western intelligence and security organizations in recent years," The government-controlled Mehr News Agency cited a release issued on Sunday."Iran's Foreign Ministry therefore urges Iranians who intend to travel abroad to pay particular attention, and turn down financial, job, trade, residence, citizenship as well as other tempting offers from strangers.”
