Report: 'Grunis Law' Vote Postponed

A bill to allow a Supreme Court justice to head the panel with little time served or little time left to serve was taken off the Knesset agenda Monday, according to Israel Defense Forces Radio. The bill was expected to come up for a vote on the final readings to make it law, but was withdrawn by the ruling coalition due to differences within the coaltion and concern it would not get a majority.

If passed, the law will allow Justice Asher Grunis to be elected High Court president when President Dorit Beinisch retires in February.
