Shama-Hacohen: I Believe Channel 10 will Continue

Chairman Carmel Shama-Hacohen of the Knesset Economics Committee said, Monday, that the committee will undertake an in-depth look at the advertising market in order to advance reforms which could save Channel 10 television. Speaking at the start of a committee hearing on the crisis of the station's debts to the state, the Likud Knesset member said the government had set records in deferring the discussion, adding that the committee was not a rescue fund.

Shama-Hacohen said a station that needs financial favors cannot be a watchdog of democracy, but a poodle (lackey) at best. He added that he believed Channel 10 would continue to broadcast, despite dark forecasts about its future.
