Foreign Affairs and Defense C'tee Delegation to NATO

A delegation from the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee is off to Brussels for meetings with senior officials of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) about changes taking place in the Middle East. Delegation member Moshe Matalon told Arutz Sheva's Hebrew journal that the 24 hour visit will include meetings, starting Sunday evening, with operations personnel, ambassadors and other senior officials.

He said the so-called "Arab Spring" is really an earthquake, adding that Israel has reason to be worried and as part of that worry, there's a need to consult with its European friends. Matalon said NATO's involvement in recent events, primarily in Libya, make it a significant force for calm in the Middle East, adding that NATO knows, even if it can't say so too loudly, that Israel represents the only true democracy in the region, in spite of the recent changes in the Arab world.
