Most of the indices on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange ended Sunday's first day of trading for the week with moderate gains. The TA composite index closed one and a half percent higher at 978.73, while the TA 100 closed at 988.48, up 1.53 percent. The same percentage gain meant a 1,087.14 finish for the Maof 25 most-widely-capitalized stocks.
With the insurance issues soaring 5.03 percent to 1,093.21, the financial institutions closed at 922.40, up three percent, including a 2.57 percent jump by the bank stocks to 969.83. The Ma'ala organization's index of stocks with social concern finished the day 833.67, up 1.83 percent, followed by most of the technology stocks, which rose 1.61 percent to 283.35, while the biomed issues closed at 717.67, up 1.44 percent. The real estate index rose 1.28 percent to 273.48, while the communications index finished the day at 765.17, up 1.07 percent, and the oil and natural gas stocks rose .47 percent to 1,179.19
