Committee Kills Core Curriculum Law

The Ministerial Law Committee on Sunday afternoon rejected a bill that would have required all schools to teach a core curriculum if they wanted to receive Education Ministry funding. The bill would have required implementation of a core curriculum at Hareidi schools, and was sharply opposed by Hareidi leaders.

The bill was turned down unanimously. Education Minister Gideon Sa'ar said during the meeting that the law contradicted several coalition agreements, and was “problematic” as far as he was concerned.
