France's ambassador to Israel, Christophe Bigot, will pay a visit to Rabbi Ovadia Yosef on Sunday, accompanied by Interior Minister Eli Yishai. Bigot is seeking Rabbi Yosef's support for the release of Salah Tamori, who planned to kill him in 2005. Tamori is a French citizen, and the French government has sought his release.
Rabbi Yosef is expected to approve the terrorist's release. France wants him to be included among the terrorists to be released in the second wave of those to be released in the deal to bring Gilad Shalit back to Israel. The list of those to be released is being finalized this week.
