Syrian dissidents are calling on residents to go on a general strike on Sunday, as a first step in a campaign of “civil disobedience” to President Bashar Assad.
A local opposition group announced on Thursday that the new campaign will include strikes, closure of shops and shutting down of schools and other public services.
