400-Year-Old Torah Scroll Smuggled Out of Baghdad


A ceremony has been scheduled for Tuesday to mark a Netanyah synagogue becoming the new home of a Torah scroll estimated at 400 years old, which was recently smuggled out of the Beit-Zilcha yeshiva in Baghdad with the help of the United States military. The scroll is associated with Rabbi Yosef Chaim of Baghdad, also known as the Ben-Ish Chai, who lived from 1832 to 1909.
