An organization in Bnei Brak has developed a program to distribute free medicine to the needy. Yechiel Landman, the head of the Chaverim LeRefua organziation stated, "every day people throw away precious drugs. This is because, G-d forbid, the patient died or that they no longer require medication. We decided we would pick up the drugs and provide them to other patients. There are many drugs that cost thousands a month and people cannot afford it."
