Mitt Romney, a candidate for United States president said that US President Barack Obama has "chastened" Israel. He spoke the words at a Republican Jewish Coalition event featuring  six leading presidential candidates. Romney stated that he would make it a priority to visit Israel and noted that President Obama has not done so while in office. Romney stated that while President Obama visited several Middle Eastern countries while in office, “in the past three years, Obama has instead chastened Israel.”
