Modest to moderate losses accompanied the start of business at the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange on Tuesday. The TA composite index fell 1.05 percent in the first quarter hour of trading to 983.45, while the TA 100 fell 1.14 percent to 994.89, including a 1.21 percent decline by the Maof 25 most-widely-invested issues to 1,095.51.
With a 1.77 percent drop by the bank stocks to 972.23, the financial institutions index slumped 1.42 percent to 914.71, including a one percent drop by the insurance issues to 1,050.09. The communications index declined 1.31 percent to 779.09. Most of the technology issues opened at 280.13, down 1.1 percent, while the biotech stocks slipped six tenths of a percent to 733.10. The real estate index opened at 277.81, down .99 percent, and the oil and natural gas index declined .97 percent to 1,181.53
