World-Class Cyclists to Tour Jerusalem Tuesday


On Tuesday, the Jerusalem municipality will host three-time Tour de France winner Alberto Contador and members of his famous Saxo Bank cycling team in what is being billed as the Tour de Jerusalem. The event will start with the Spaniard and Mayor Nir Barkat riding together in a celebratory lap in the Old City, with 100 cyclists from Israeli clubs, beginning at 16:40.

Kontador, the Saxo Bank team, and 30 of the best riders in Israel will take part in a 10-lap professional race, beginning at 17:00. The length of the race is 2.8 km and will pass through the spectacular beauty of the Old City, past the Armenian Quarter, the Western Wall, Dung Gate, Mount Zion, Valley of Hinnom, Sultan’s Pool and back to Jaffa Gate.
