MK Ben-Simon: Israel Should Leave Ariel

Member of Knesset Daniel Ben-Simon told a special session at a journalists' conference in Eilat that Israel should leave the Samarian city of Ariel "when the time comes." Some members of the audience protested and asked the former Ha'aretz writer about his home in the Jewish-Arab port of Jaffa (Yafo)  which forms a city with Tel Aviv, to which he said the same law does not apply.

Mayor Ron Nachman of Ariel rejected Ben-Simon's remarks, noting that the right won the last elections so there was no cause to worry about Ben-Simon's threats. Ha'aretz writer Gideon Levi told the audience that media don't influence to the extent one people say they do.
