Bomb disposal experts in the city of Koblenz in Germany have managed to successfully defuse two bombs from World War II who that were found in the banks of the Rhine River. The bombs were discovered after the water levels fell due to a long dry spell.

About half the population of the city, about 45,000 people living within a radius of 2 km from where the bombs were found, were evacuated from their homes. The operation to defuse the bombs lasted about three hours.
