Peres: Two-State Solution Can't Gather Dust

President Shimon Peres said, Sunday, that "Zealous, fanatic, violent religous priests are trying to block the coming of the Arab Spring, to thwart the hopes of the young." Speaking at the official memorial observance for David Ben-Gurion, Israel's first prime minister, he continued, "As is their wont, they use their hate for Israel as an excuse for their failures, as if what happened in Tunisia, Syria, Lebanon, Libya and Yemen has anything to do with Israel."

Peres said, "It's exactly because of this that Israel must present the real picture in a firm and urgent way, to translate our desire for peace and readiness to pay the price into the language of action. The solution of 'Two National Homelands for Two Peoples is tied to painful concessions, and this solution must not gather dust and remain purely paper."
