Shabbat marks the 38th anniversary of the passing of David Ben-Gurion, Israel's first prime minister.

Because of that, the official state observance in honor of Ben-Gurion and his wife, Paula, is scheduled to take place Sunday afternoon at 3:00 in the Ben-Gurion Tomb National Park in the Negev, not far from Sde Boker, where he made his home for the last 20 years of his life. Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu is scheduled to appear.
