Industry and Trade Minister Shalom Simhon warned on Thursday that Israel is facing a wave of layoffs and called on employers not to hurt the weak sectors of society.
Speaking at the Kibbutz Industries Association’s conference, Simhon said, “If the new social agenda brings about dismissal of workers who earn small wages, we will all lose. I urge business owners not to send the weak workers home, claiming that the social protest caused it.”
“We must be careful because the weak sector is facing an existential danger,” he added. “It is time that Israel show solidarity towards those who wish to work.”
