The Knesset approved on its second and third reading Monday night a law that will exempt students of pre-IDF academies and National Service (Sherut Leumi) volunteers of having to pay National Insurance Institute (Bituach Leumi) fees. The exemption will apply to all students and volunteers 21 years of age or younger, for as long as they are studying or serving.
The law was sponsored by MK Zvulun Orlev (Bayit Yehudi) and will apply retroactively to September 2011. The law was approved by 40 MKs, with no objections.
