Probe of Prostitution Prosecution Failures Sought

Following a joint hearing, Monday, by Knesset Committee on the Rights of the Child and the Subcommittee on Trafficking in Women, it was decided that Committee Chairs Zevulun Orlev and Orit Zuaretz will ask Knesset Speaker Reuven Rivlin to establish a parliamentary investigative panel to probe the failure by local authorities to enforce laws designed at reducing prostitution and the sexual exploitation of children for commercial purposes.

Orlev will also apply to the leadership of the coalition to assure a majority of support for the proposal across coalition and opposition lines.
