Accident Suspends Jerusalem Light Rail Service

Service on Jerusalem's light rail system was stopped, temporarily, Sunday afternoon to allow police to investigate an accident in which a pedestrian was seriously injured by a train between Jerusalem's city hall and the Damascus Gate to the Old City.

A preliminary investigation indicates the man was hit by a southbound train between the Damascus Gate and an entrance to the Christian Quarter of the Old City, known as "the New Gate". Earlier reports placed the location of the accident closer to the Jaffa Gate.
