MK Molla: Appoint Judges Because They're Good

MK Shlomo Molla (Kadima) said on Thursday that there is no reason to appoint a Supreme Court judge because of his origins or his place of residence.

“I do not accept the claim that whoever sits in the Supreme Court is part of the Ashkenazi elite,” Molla told Arutz Sheva. “A judge should be appointed and elected because he’s good. If the elite indeed control the court, there should be some soul-searching within the court, without any political interference.”

“I support the initiative of bringing a Sephardic judge if he’s good enough,” added Molla, “but what does that have to do with the judge’s political views? I think the right did damage to Judge Grunis when it labeled him as extreme right.”
