Iraq: Syria Accepts Arab League Monitors

Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari of Iraq said, Thursday, that Syria has agreed to allow monitors from the Arab League to enter the country to assess the security situation among Syria's civilians, after nine months of eight months of violent suppression by the government of President Bashar Al-Assad.

Speaking to reporters at a gathering of the league's foreign ministers in Cairo, Zebari said Syria's deputy foreign minister would sign the necessary documents. Arab League leaders are considering sanctions against Syria.
