The official value of the shekel declined an average of .257 percent, Thursday, against most of the currencies on the Bank of Israel's foreign-exchange list. The United States dollar was fixed at NIS 3.774, up .344 percent from Wednesday's rate, while the Euro rose .248 percent to 5.0472 shekels.
The pound sterling was set at NIS 5.865, up .101 percent, while the Japanese yen rose .548 percent, 100 yen equalling 4.8978. The Swiss frank was fixed at NIS 4.1151, up .574 percent and the Australian dollar rose .691 percent to 3.6849. The Norwegian krona was the one currency to decline, slipping .031 percent.
