Modest to moderate gains were reported on most indices of the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange at the beginning of Tuesday trading. A quarter hour into the session, the TA composite index was up .43 percent at 947.42, just behind the TA 100, whose 957.89 figure represented a .47 percent rise, including a .55 increase by the Maof 25 most-widely-invested issues to 1.053.64.
Leading the way in the early going were the oil and natural gas stocks at 1,134.52, up 1.14 percent, followed by the real estate index, which rose .82 percent to 270.37. The financial institutions stood at 859.04, up .48 percent, despite a .17 percent drop by the insurance issues to 1,006.14, and the BlueTech 50 biomed and other technology stocks rose .47 percent to 265.37. The communications index was up a tenth of a percent at 807.27.
