During debate in the Knesset Finance Committee, Monday morning, on increasing the size of the state comptroller's staff to deal with the increasing number of public complaints, committee member Ghaleb Majadele said there were people who wanted to silence the Muslim call to prayer because it is noisy. Alternate member Danny Danon responded by asking why the call to prayer could not be made via the cellular telephone's short message service.
