Libel Law Amendment to Get First Reading Monday Evening

An amendment to the libel law is scheduled to receive its first reading in the Knesset, Monday evening, according to Israel Defense Forces Radio.

Under the amendment, a court can order reporters or the media they work for to pay 300,000 shekels compensation for a false report, even if no damage is proven.
