Beinisch: Talks Welcome, Absenteeism Not

President Dorit Beinisch of the Supreme Court welcomed, Sunday afternoon, the decision by young medical specialists to resume talks over their dissatisfaction with working conditions under the latest collective bargaining agreement between the state and the Israel Medical Federation. Speaking at a High Court hearing on a petition against a National Labor Court ruling against protest resignations, she criticized conditions the residents put on their return to negotiations.

Responding to remarks by representatives of the doctors that they could not guarantee that they would all return to work, Justice Beinisch voiced her support for the labor-court ruling, adding, "Steps will be taken against those who do not return to work." The state voiced its objection to a representative of veteran specialists taking part in the talks.
