Tens of thousands of people made their way, Friday, to Hevron and nearby Kiryat Arba' to mark the Judean Jewish cities' Shabbat, which includes the reading from Bereshit (Genesis) in which Abraham purchases the Me'arat Hamachpelah, now known as the Cave of the Patriarchs.

Spokesman Noam Arnon of the Hevron Jewish community said the numbers include ministers Ya'akov Ne'eman and Yuli-Yosef Edelstein, as well as Knesset members Ze'ev Elkin (Likud), Danny Danon (Likud)  and Michael Ben-Ari (National Union). Other public figures include Samaria (Shomron) Council Chairman Gershon Mesika and Moshe Feiglin of the Likud party's Jewish Leadership faction, as well as Rabbis Dov Begun and Shmuel Eliyahu.
