This year’s Annual donation drive for the Wikimedia Foundation, including the vast Wikipedia among many other sister initiatives will present the personal stories of the Wikipedia volunteer authors and their donation requests.

Among the authors are Alan Soon, author of some 2,500 technical Wikipedia articles. Soon spent volunteer hours equivalent of hundreds of thousands of dollars he could have made in his profession as a systems advisor.

Susan Hewitt has written many articles for Wikipedia on her personal interest, namely snails.

Brandon Harris quit his hi-tech career to become a Wikimedia programmer.

Only some of many devoted Wikimedia Staff dedicated to the free dissemination of information.  The Wikimedia Foundation has accomplished on a shoestring what other companies couldn’t accomplish on an exponentially higher budget.
