The Interior Ministry announced, Tuesday, that its southern district council has approved the construction of 1,315 housing units for the town of Ofakim, subject to a seismic assessment. The figure includes 200 units intended for sheltered housing.

Interior Minister Eli Yishai welcomed the decision, explaining that it will help expand and strengthen the town and provide a solution to Israel's housing problem.
