Tel Aviv Stocks Slightly Off at Start


Most of the indices on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange started Tuesday trading with modest losses. The exception was the index of the 20 most-widely-invested bonds, which started the day at 273.56, up .04 percent. The TA composite index slipped .43 percent to 1,001.65, while the TA 100 checked in at 1,013.42, down .45 percent, including an opening of 1,117.02, down .48 percent, by the Maof 25 most-widely-invested common stocks.

Also declining .43 percent were the biomed issues, which opened at 744.07, while the other technology stocks were off .24 percent at 279.86. The oil and natural gas index opened at 1,250.15, down .17 percent, and the real estate issues declined .32 percent to 286.02. Communications stocks opened at 880.45, down .55 percent, and the financial institutions were off .57 percent at 919.12.
