Ben Yosef Livnat, who was killed by Arab terrorists earlier this year, has been recognized as a terror victim by the National Insurance Institute's property tax department. As a result, Ro'i Nagar, who owns the car that Livni had been using when he was attacked, will receive NIS 12,000 in compensation.
The agency had previously refused to offer compensation for the vehicle, claiming that the car had not been damaged in an “act of war,” as defined by them. Nagar sought help from the Yesha Human Rights Organization, which took on the case and, after numerous requests and discussions, issued Monday's ruling. Authorities had been reluctant until now to classify Livnat as an official terror, as he was killed by PA police, not “terrorists.”
