The Knesset Economics Committee started a hearing, Monday morning at 11:00, regarding wholesale increases in fines for traffic violations. In doing so, the committee rejected a request by the Transportation Ministry to delay the start of the hearing until noon, following comments on Sunday by Committee Chairman Carmel Shama-Hacohen against the ministry's proposal.
MK Shama-Hacohen said, "The last 24 hours prove that parliamentary supervision gets results. Now the Transportation Ministry will do its homework and arrive better prepared and based to the next hearing."
