Most of the indices on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange started trading, Monday morning, with modest losses. The TA composite index was down .76 percent at 1,006.59 and the TA 100 stood at 1,018.35, down .84 percent after 45 minutes of trading, including a .92 percent decline by the Maof 25 most-widely-invested issues to 1,122.90.
The lone bright spot was the oil and natural gas index, which rose 1.17 percent to 1,247.95. Worst hit were the bank stocks, which fell 2.67 percent to 968.98, coupled with the .86 percent loss by the insurance issues to 1,081.07, giving the financial institution index a 1.96 percent decline to 922.07. The Blue Tech index stood at 278.63, down .48 percent. The same percentage decline meant a posting of 753.18 for the biomed stocks and the real estate index posted an opening of 286.95, down .72 percent.
