      Steinitz: State Finances Not Simple

Finance Minister Yuval Steinitz said, Sunday, "We are worried about the decline in revenues to the state in the third quarter, which is a result of the crisis which is renewing itself in Europe, but also the declines in the capital market and the social justice protest." Speaking to reporters, he said, "Toward the end of the year, we'll take a look at the forecasts and if there's a need to take steps to reduce the deficit, we'll consider it and bring our considerations to the government."

Regarding the recommendations of the Trajtenberg Committee on socioeconomic change, Dr. Steinitz said, "We are adopting the Trajtenberg report with the appropriate amount of caution, with the government and the Treasury putting the central emphasis on dealing with the [deficit] crisis, and everything else is secondary."
