Despite a huge campaign by the Tourism Ministry and many efforts to amass votes, the Dead Sea has been left out of the list of finalists for the new seven wonders of nature.
The voting officially closed on Friday (11.11.11) at 11:11 a.m. (Britain time). 28 sites around the world had been part of the contest, and the Dead Sea was believed to have been among the 14 finalists, but when the seven new wonders were officially announced on Friday evening, it was off the list.
