Syria: Thursday Death Toll Up to 24

Reports out of Syria say Thursday's death toll from clashes between Syrian troops and opponents of the government of President Bashar Al-Assad rose to 24. The figure includes six government soldiers who were shot by those who joined opposition forces.

During the day, Amnesty International called on the Arab League to pressure authorities in Damascus to let foreign monitors enter the country and see the situation of the people up close. Arab League foreign ministers are scheduled to meet on Saturday in Cairo to discuss the possibility of sanctions against Syria for its continued acts of supression.
