Memorial Service for General Avraham Orli Friday


There will be a memorial service to mark the 30th anniversary of the passing of Major General Avraham Orli, Friday morning at 8:30 in the military cemetery of Kiryat Shaul.

Orli immigrated from Czechoslovakia and fought in the War of Independence at the age of 18. He is believed to be one of the country's first paratroopers and commanded paratroopers from 1951 to 1968, when he was appointed Israel's military attache in Ethiopia, according to the Associated Press. He was the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories between February 1976 and February 1979.
