At a meeting with MKs from Bayit Yehudi, the Yesha Council, and the heads of local authorities and cities in Judea and Samaria, Bayit Yehudi Chairman and Science and Technology Minister Daniel Hershkowitz clarified statements he made Monday. Hershkowitz reiterated that attempts by the government to uproot new communities (called “outposts” in the general media) would result in a “political tsunami” that would wash away the government of Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu.

Hershkowitz had been quoted as saying that protesters opposed to the demolition of homes in Judea and Samaria who had set up a protest tent near his synagogue were misdirected. He was quoted as saying that the protests should be taking place not in his neighborhood, but outside the homes of mayors of the towns where the demolitions were to take place. Hershkowitz was sharply criticized by civil leaders in Judea and Samaria over the comments.
