The National Union issued a statement Monday night stating that if the government tried to destroy new communities (called in the media “outposts”) in Judea and Samaria, the party would resign form the government, along with other rightwing parties – essentially destroying Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's coalition. At that point, Netanyahu would have no choice other than to invite Kadima in to save his coalition, or call new elections.

The party released the statement after Netanyahu said earlier that the government would “operate according to the law” regarding construction in the communities.
