Knesset Votes Deferred due to Muslim Holiday Absences

Knesset Speaker Reuven Rivlin announced, Monday, that votes on the first reading of the Slander Law and the "Grunis" Law will be deferred because of the absence of Arab Knesset members to mark the Muslim holiday of Eil Al-Adha. The announcement was made during a meeting of the Knesset presidency.

The holiday, marking the end of the Haj pilgrimage to Mecca, began at sunset on Sunday and runs until sunset on Monday. In other countries, it can last three days.
