Most of the indices on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange posted gains ranging from modest to sharp at the close of a mixed day of trading on Sunday. The TA composite index rose .68 percent to 996.32 as the TA 100 closed at 1,008.86, up .76 percent, including a half-percent rise by the Maof 25 most-widely-invested issues to 1,112.02.
Leading the gainers were most of the technology stocks, which rose 2.37 percent to 279.01, while the biomed stocks closed at 730.39, up .03 percent. Buoyed by the discovery of natural gas at the Dolphin I well, the oil and gas index rose 2.01 percent to 1,149.32, while the real estate index closed at 238.80, up a quarter of a percent. The financial institutions finished the day at 928.06, down seven tenths of a percent, bank stocks declining .39 percent to 994.40 and insurance stocks falling 1.58 percent to 1063.85
