MK Otniel Schneller (Kadima) filed a complaint with the Knesset Ethics Committee Sunday against Arab MK Hanin Zouabi, who went to South Africa last month to testify against Israel at the “Russell Tribunal.” The Tribunal, which bills itself as “a citizens' initiative,” was held to determine whether or not Israel is an “apartheid state.”
Zouabi attended the session and “testified” that Israel was indeed an apartheid state, and that her membership in the Knesset was irrelevant to that opinion. Schneller said that she did not ask the Ethics Committee for permission to testify, as is customary in the presentation of testimony at international tribunals.
