Thousands were gathering in Denver for the opening of the annual Jewish Federations of North America General Assembly (GA). The event, which will be attended by as many as 4,000 people, will last for three days, and will discuss issues from education to health care, as well as the impact of the difficult economy on Jews in the U.S. and abroad.
Deputy Prime Minister Silvan Shalom and Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee Chairman MK Shaul Mofaz will address the meeting. Over a third of the GA's agenda items deal with issues directly affecting Israel.
