Injunction Sought Against Strike

The coordinating office of the country's economic organizations asked the National Labor Court, Friday, to issue an order preventing the general strike strike called by the Histadrut Labor Federation for Monday if no agreement is reached between the government and the union on the issue of contract labor.The Histadrut is trying move a significant percentage of the people hired by personnel agencies onto the payroll of the companies they get sent to.

Coordinating Office Chairman Shraga Brosh said that a general strike could cause 330 billion shekels damage a day to the Israeli economy. He noted that the Israeli economy is already affected by problems in the international economy and said a strike was not necessary.
