Iran, Lebanon Pursue Disappearance of Amal Founder

Iran's ambassador to Lebanon talked, Thursday, with a member of parliament in Beirut about steps the two countries will take to clarify the fate of Iman Mousa Al-Sadr, the founder of the Shi'ite Amal movement, which gained prominence during Lebanon's Civil War. Hizbulla splintered from Amal after Nabih Berri became Amal's leader.

Al-Sadr and two friends were abducted during an official visit to Libya in 1978 and there has been no word on him since. Iran increased its efforts on his behalf with the downfall of former Libyan leader Muammar Qaddafi.
